This is a glass magic lantern "coming attraction" slide projected on the screen of a theater during intermission to advertise a feature film which would be appearing soon. It reads, "Selznick Pitures, Lewis J. Selznick Presents Ralph Ince in OUT OF THE SNOWS by E,Lord Corbett. A Ralph Ince Production." It was filmed in 1920 starring Ralph Ince and Zena Keefe and is presumed lost. Youngest of three film-making brothers (see also John Ince and Ince, Thomas H.), Ralph Ince's career mirrored that of his brother John: he went from acting in silents to directing; with the advent of sound he turned character actor. Unlike John, however, he would eventually resume directing and was successful in UK productions from 1934 until his death. Zena Keefe entered the world in San Francisco, California on June 26, 1896. The actress who was to make a total of 28 films started her career at the age of 16 when she played a bit part in 1912's THE HIEROGLYPHIC. After THE GAMBLER'S later that year Zena would have to wait for four years before she appeared in another movie. When she returned to the silver screen in 1916, she played a role in THE RAIL RIDER. Her first real meaty role was as Mary Winslow in HER MATERNAL RIGHT later that year. For the rest of her career she was not as busy as she would have liked.
