Tuesday and it's * * * SHOW TIME * * * This auction consists of my fathers 34 year collection of sheets of Christmas Tuberculosis Seals from 1938 through 1976. This auction is the first half from 1938 through 1958. For those that want to bid on both halves I will space the second auction to end 10 minutes later than this one. Tuberculosis Seals made their United States debut on December 7, 1907 when Red Cross worker Emily Bissell (1861-1948) sold the for a penny apiece in Wilmington, Delaware . Originally, the Red Cross promoted the seals until 1919 when sponsorship was assumed by the National Tuberculosis Association, which changed it's name in 1973 to The American Lung Association . My father began collecting 3 sheets of seals every year starting in 1938 and stopped shortly before he died in 1976. I have decided to auction his collection off on eBay . For some unknown reason 6 years are missing: 1945, 1949, 1950, 1952, 1956 and 1974. In the majority of cases the seals are in great shape with all their glue intact. I will point out any other minor flaws. Since 34 photos are a little much for any one auction, I will divide the collection up into 2 auctions: 1938-1958 and 1959-1976 .
