This piece of vintage jewelry is a man's tie tack done in sterling silver, marked 925. It is round and contains a lovely and ancient piece of 2000 year old Roman Glass. Roman glass was discovered in archaeological excavation sites primarily in the Holy Land. It was an industrially manufactured glass used by the Romans all over their empire and was used to create wonderful vessels for perfume, lamps, dishes and other items. After the fall of the Roman Empire, a large amount of these glass items were buried until their excavation in modern times. This fabulous piece is round, set in a sterling silver mount. It is primarily green with a patina of light green, yellow, and gold. Tie tack measures 3/4 inch across. Excellent condition.
