Obverse of the coin portrays Lewis and Clark on a stream bank planning further exploration, while the reverse shows two feathers symbolizing the many American Indian cultures they encountered. Included with this coin is the Eyewitness to History Coin First Day Cover envelope with COA on the back and three 2004 U.S. postage stamps commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The stamps are: the 37 cent Meriwether Lewis , the 37 cent William Clark and the 37 cent Lewis and Clark Bicentennial . The official postmark of May 14, 2004, records the exact date of issue and forver certifies this limited edition. The Cover also includes a brilliant uncirculated 2004 Peace Medal Nickel. The reverse design, adapts the reverse of the 1803 Peace and Friendship Medal presented to American Indian chiefs by Lewis and Clark. The obverse bears a portrait of Thomas Jefferson.
