The biblical text of this edition (together with the annotations, references and index), has been digitally reset so as faithfully to reproduce that of the 1899 edition of the Douay – Rheims Bible originally published under the Imprimatur of Cardinal Gibbons by the John Murphy Company, Baltimore, Maryland. All the maps, save one, have been digitally redrawn from those found in a 1911 edition published by the Wm. Aleiter Company, Indianapolis, under the Imprimatur of Cardinal Farley, Archbishop of New York. The map entitled “The Temple of Jerusalem As Planned By Herod” has been digitally redrawn from the 1899 John Murphy Company Edition. The engravings have been taken in the same way from a 1941 edition published by The Douay Bible House, New York, under the Imprimatur of Archbishop Spellman. read more
