2005 COPY THE HOLY BIBLE DOUAY-RHEIMS VERSION The HOLY BIBLE Translated from the Latin Vulgate Diligently compared with the Hebrew, Greek, and other editions in divers languages The Old Testament First published by the English college at Douay A.D. 1609 And The New Testament First published by the English College at Rheims, A.D. 1582 With Annotations, References, and an Historical, and Chronological, Index The Whole Revised and Diligently Compared with the Latin Vulgate By The Servant of God, Bishop Richard Challoner, A.D. 1749 – 1752. The biblical text of this edition (together with the annotations, references and index), has been digitally reset so as faithfully to reproduce that of the 1899 edition of the Douay – Rheims Bible originally published under the Imprimatur of Cardinal Gibbons by the John Murphy Company, Baltimore, Maryland. All the maps, save one, have been digitally redrawn from those found in a 1911 edition published by the Wm. Aleiter Company, Indianapolis, under the Imprimatur of Cardinal Farley, Archbishop of New York. The map entitled “The Temple of Jerusalem As Planned By Herod” has been digitally redrawn from the 1899 John Murphy Company Edition. The engravings have been taken in the same way from a 1941 edition published by The Douay Bible House, New York, under the Imprimatur of Archbishop Spellman. The Binding cover of this Bible is a faux leather flex style much like that of the Duo-Tone Bibles, and sewn around the edges. Comes with gold gilt page edges and four page marker ribbons. No markings or highlighting. Binding tight, pages bright. The only flaw is that t is a slight blemish on the fore front gilt edge, just under the front cover.
