2010 CAMEROON 1000 FRANCS SILVER COIN - SHROUD OF TURIN - LE SUAIRE DE TURIN Silver coin dedicated to Shroud of Turin, one of the most studied artifacts in human history, and one of the most controversial. Many think that is the actual cloth placed on the body of Jesus Christ at the time of his burial, and that the face image is the Holy Face of Jesus. Due to the fraction of the impacting light, holograms create rainbow-like colour impressions. This coin features an achromatic hologram: if coin is held in an angle of 60° degrees the hologram appears with no colour. The coin’s obverse depicts the Republic of Cameroon Coat of Arms. BACKGROUND AND HISTORY The Shroud of Turin is a 4.36 m long and 1.10 m wide linen cloth bearing the replica of a male. It is worshiped as Jesus Christ’s burial shroud and is considered to be the Catholic Church’s most significant icon. Researchers have had very controversial discussions about the shroud and its originality for decades which has led to the so-called Sindonology, an own area of expertise.
