This is something that rarely comes along and I mention this because even though some of the filagree is missing on the brooch, the set is understated and amazing at the same time! The set came from a woman who said this had always been in her family and she is from Europe. The sheer beauty of the fossilized agate looks like etchings of frost on a windowpane....magical. But what else would you expect from Mother Nature? This set is being offered, with what I think is a very reasonable reserve, considering that it has been written up by an appraiser with an est. value of 1,500.00. The papers will come with this set but it is mentioned on the paper that this is not a formal appraisal...although it is 3 pages. The pin brooch measures approx. 45mm x 37mm. It has a wonderful 14K pinstem and catch that works wonderfully. It weighs approx. 13 grams and is missing a small amount of rope filagree that I feel is very minor. The earrings are a DREAM. They are double stones and have long earwires consistant with the time period. These earrings have approx a 45mm drop, from the top of the curve of the wire and are 21mm wide. These measurements are all taken including the 20Kt gold framing. Their weight is approx. 10.1 grams.
