Olivera Shell BeadsLogan County OHIO ~22 inches long (~75 beads) Olivera shell beads like this are a diagnostic artifact feature of many Glacial Kame habitation sites (along with turkeytail blades red ochre, birdstones, and sandal sole gorgets). Glacial Kames are the remnants of terminal moraines left by the glaciers during the last ice age. The glacial Kame people were a Red Ochre archaic tradition in northern to central OHIO that are named as such because they often buried their dead in very deep (up to 20 ft) large cemeteries in glacial Kames, and they may be the origin of the mound-building practice, as well as the origin of longstanding marine shell trade of central Ohio with the gulf coast and tidewater region. These show a good amount of weathering, but are solid and can be easily handled with no chalkiness. Guaranteed authentic forever, with 30 day unconditional return policy.
