Lot 22006 Plastic Training or Lifeboat Sextants, Davis Mark 15, Davis Mark 3 and Ebbco These were used by the school as teaching aids and rarely out of their boxes. They demonstrated that pretty good deep water navigation could be accomplished using rather crude instruments. The Mark 15 is still available today from Davis Instruments for $200. The Mark 3 is also still available, and is defined as a trainer or lifeboat sextant and the retails for $53. The Ebbco (East Berkshire Boat Co., England) is pretty much the same as the Davis Mark 3 except it does have a vernier dial and are about $80 EU. Also the Ebbco comes with its black plastic case, not shown. So you are getting about $400 plus dollars worth of instruments to use as Christmas gifts for the kids or wannabe sailor uncle. Or maybe you want to add some historical depth to your collection. It isn't always about the most expensive, sometimes it is about coverage.
