OK, so it’s bargain time for someone in my biggest sale yet... well I say my sale, but I am just going to be the arbiter of the closing down sale for my place of work, our local pub, The Bull at Streatley (Streatley-on-Thames, Berkshire RG8 9JJ). All of the auctions I am putting up are our redundancy package; because after 900 years, 2 world wars and many recessions, the smoking ban has succeeded where the Luftwaffe failed and the pub closes permanently on Wednesday 14 th March and everyone is out of work. Boo Hoo, life goes on, unavoidable, platitudes etc. but in the real world, let’s enjoy the wonders of eBay and try to get everyone some cold hard cash… well hopefully YOUR cash not to put too finer point on it! The reason that I put this all before the description is because there are some very important but totally unavoidable conditions that go with this auction: Firstly, you must be able to collect the item before Monday the 19th of March (the last possible day for collection is Sunday the 18 th ), if you cannot do so then please, please, please do not bid, as the building will be locked and boarded up, and so no-one will be here or able to give the item to you. Secondly, there is no buy it now option as this would mean that I would have to research how much things might be worth, and I really don’t have the time to do so whilst trying to find another job. Thirdly, all of the items are collection only, I know that this limits the number of people who will be able to bid and will inevitably mean that the amounts of money raised will be lower, but if you have ever been involved in a house move, then I am sure that you will appreciate the lack of time available and so packing and posting items is just not possible in the time scale. If you are the winner of an auction, then I would greatly appreciate an idea of when you would like to collect, as many of the items are locked in storage and getting them ready for you would save you a lot of time! Fourth, there are no returns and all items (even the brand new ones) are ‘sold as seen’, you are very welcome to contact me to arrange a viewing for any of the items prior to the end of the auction and I will get them out for you. Also please do visit, because if it is before Wednesday 14 th then you could stop for a pint as well! But for all of the reasons above, you bid, you buy, you collect and pay, you take the bargain home... job done! Right, so sob story over and back to the real world, here is the item: 1 Case of 24 Brand New Fosters Pint glasses, Nucleated, government stamped, never been used, box only opened to take a picture! Whatever you might want to bid on in any of the auctions, you are going to get an absolute bargain and please do not hesitate to contact me if there is anything listed that you might think we have for sale – I am perfectly happy to set up a buy it now auction for anything that we might have that isn’t currently listed, and being a pub means that we have the obscure as well as the ordinary available. If it is not part of the building or on the receivers inventory list, then it’s up for grabs!
