24 Piece Vintage Butterscotch Bakelite / Catalin Flatware Set This wonderful vintage bakelite flatware set has been part of my collection for a few years. The set includes six complete 4-piece place settings, each with a knife, fork, teaspoon and soup spoon. The handles are a deep butterscotch, with squared Deco-style corners. They are marked in very tiny lettering on the backs, "Stainless Steel." This set is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, and the bakelite handles still have a wonderful lustre. Two of the pieces appear to be not part of the original set. One of the knives has a slightly different shaping to the handle, and one of the forks is a shade darker than the remaining pieces. The variations are quite minor, and do not detract at all from the beauty of this set. (Please see photos.) The set comes with a chartreuse felt-lined silverware box. I don't believe that the box is original to the set, and while it has surface scuffs and scratches on the exterior, it does a fine job of holding the set when it is not in use. My reserve for this set is a modest $99.00. I paid $250.00 for this set four years ago, and have only used it a couple of times since I acquired it.
