Youare bidding on 2, 25 inch Dave Murphy Knife Blade Blanks.These are 25 inches in length and they are nice. These were purchased from his estate in Gresham, Oregon. I spoke with his relative at the sale and he said that these blades have been in Mr. Murphy’s shed ever since he could no longer work on them over 5 years ago!!! He only “used the best and strongest metals available for his knives! These blades are Planner blades that Mr. Murphy bought at a local Lumber mill here in Oregon. It was told to me that these are D-2. I cannot say for sure if this is true. What I can tell you is that I have not had a complaint about any blade that I have sold to date! These were used to make his legendary CHAIK style blade and his "Little 88's" and "Tiny 90's. These blades are made of D-2 tool steel. He used them just as they are, grinding and polishing them to their final blade shape, and not doing any further heat treatment to them once finished! The only condition issue is that one of the blades has a small ding it it! (See picture) There is some minor staining on the blades but it can be removed. One edge has been pre-sharpened and is very sharp! Dave Murphy is a legend in the knife industry. If you know about knives then you know about him.
