Original WWII 29th Division modified canteen & shovel covers. Both items are from same individual with matching laundry numbers in three different places . Robert Lee Taylor from VA. ASN: 20365893. Staff Sergeant Taylor was KIA on 6 July '44. Modifications are made from extra M1 carbine pouches basted in place with heavy-duty thread. Added pouches were for extra ammunition to be carried. I originally believed the tactical markings of green dots are from the 82nd Airborne, but research on the numbers turned up a trove of information on Sgt. Taylor and found out he was KIA on the drive to St. Lo. ( T-shovel is NOT included in the auction). All information I have on him will be provided to auction winner. (Many thanks to pararaftanr2 for the help!) These were found on a farm in Normandy back in the mid-1990's around the 50th anniversary celebration for D-Day. Stuff literally came out of the woodwork by people poking around the farmlands. Any questions, please feel free to ask.
