You are bidding on a pair of Lima so-called 'Super' General Utility Vans or GUVs. The super GUVs were converted in the 1990s from original vans to allow more effective modernisation of the Royal Mail distribution contracts by EWS. This involved plating over the end doors, and removing all of the previous doors and windows to replace with three sets of roller shutters each side. These conversions (along with some other BG vans also similarly converted) formed the backbone of the parcels fleet working with Rail Express Systems class 47s, 67s, 86s, and 90s. Lima produced the Super GUV shortly before they ceased trading, and it is one of the last re-tooled items that they produced, and they produced numerous different livery/number combinations. The two vans for sale in this lot are both in the most common livery variant, that of Rail Express Systems Red and Grey but without the 'blue flash' insignia. The vans are numbered as follows, 94208 plain and 94209 with small Royal Mail logos. They have been part of a large collection since new and have really never been run. I have stored them for a long time in a spare room due to the lack of a layout and now that I have one I am slowly going through my older items and selling what I no longer have use for. I have 12 super vans and I only really need 10 hence the need to sell these two items.
