I believe these date somew in the 1910-30 era and pretty sure they were originally candy containers. They vary in length from 4 1/2' to 6 1/2" and stand about 1 1/2"-2 1/2" tall......two have the original tin slide on closure. All have several small chips mostly on edge areas and the hitches. Overall though, they are still pretty decent considering the age. I believe they were all made by the Jeannette Glass Co. in Pennsylvania. The locomotive is marked " 888... JENT GLASS CO " on one side and " PAT APLD FOR....888 " on the other side. The tender is marked " OVERLAND LIMITED.....PATENT APPL'D FOR....JNET GLASS CO. " on one side, and OVERLAND EXPRESS " on the other. The passenger car is marked " ANGELINE....JNET GLASS CO " on one side and " ANGELINE....PAT APld FOR " on the other. The markings are obvious abbreviations of Jeannette, PA. Looks to be a good set of old collectible figural containers.....guaranteed early 1900's vintage....thanks for looking.
