This is a collection of well over 300 actual World War I photos taken by a field hospital doctor stationed at Field Hospital 17 in France. These photos chronical the war experience of Leroy Cordray M.D.N.A. during the war. It appears that he was an amatuer photographer and actor as well as a doctor. T are also letters from his superiors allowing leave so he can perform along with clippings and playbills of his performances and acquaintances. It looks to me that he was stationed t during the Battle of Verdun in 1916. T are battlefield photos both before and after. Some are very graphic as they outline the true nature of war. Be warned that t are photos of bodies and wounded. T are also pictures of recreation time such as the hospital baseball team. One guy is wearing a Detroit Tigers hat. Somebody famous? T are also pictures of the hospital and nurses and scenery and ships and tanks and aerial photos and just about everything else. Some pictures look like they might have been sent to him from The States during his tour. The photos are in very good condition. They have started to curl and some have marks on the back like they were in an album and then removed. It is a very comprehensive and unique collection of real American history. Please ask questions. Thanks for looking.
