300mm F-5.3 Bausch & Lomb Rack and pinion large antique lens DSLRTo find the aperture of any lens you divide the focal length in inches by the diameter of the lens in inches. The lens focal length is 12” and the diameter is 2.25” then the aperture would be 5.33 wide open. This makes the lens about a 300mm F-5.3. It would be great fun to shoot with a modern DSLR camera using this lens. Seeing as it is a focusing lens it could just be mounted on a foot long tube with a Canon or Nikon mount at one end and this lens at the other end. Focus travel is a little over 1.5” and works easily and smoothly. The glass is clean and no scratches or rubbing marks. The rear element could use some internal cleaning. There is no need for an iris when you can just change the ASA/ISO in your camera. This lens would be great fun to experiment with. It’s a heavy lens so shipping and handling will be $20 in the USA.
