The cover has ‘Due 10’ postmarked October 7 (1862), Winchester, Va. Addressed by Pvt. John C. Goodwin. Pvt. Goodwin enlisted 9/2/1861 at 18 years of age in Co. D, 30th North Carolina Troops that were from Wake County, N.C. He served with the 2nd Corps, Army of Northern Virginia. He was killed in action, July 1, 1863 at Gettysburg.
