32 LB SLAB OF ARIZONA PETRIFIED WOOD Up for auction is an absolutely beautiful 32.7 lb slab of Arizona Petrified Wood. This slab is a section of an ancient tree. It measures 17 1/4" X 14" X 2" thick. Arizona Petrified Wood is the most colorful in the world. Wood from primeval forests became buried by thick layers of sediments. Over eons of time, each wood fiber was replaced by tiny crystals of silica, in the form of agate. Often, the agate is colored by minerals like iron oxide, producing a vivid rainbow of hues. It is approximately 180,000,000 years old. This petrified wood was collected on private land outside the Petrified Forest National Park near Holbrook, Arizona. The pretrfied wood is sliced with a diamond saw then polished with diamond pads. The top has a mirror finish. This is a solid piece with no cracks or flaking The coloring and pattern are are mezmerizing as you look from different angles. This museum quality piece has a very low opening bid and will make a great piece to add to your home. Similar pieces you find will cost between $500 and $1000. This piece is special because of its sheer size and weight.
