These 3 WWI items belonged to my Grandfather whose parents had come to the U.S. from Germany after WWI. The first item is panaramic view titled "The Stars and Stripes Flying over Ehrenbrieitstein Fortress on the Rhine View Looking from Coblenz, Germany, April 1919". This 36" panaramic print shows the fortress in the background with a large paddlewheel ferry in the foreground along with a station and people walking along the riverbank. This piece is VERY fragile from age and because it has been rolled for many years. It has a corner piece that has broken off (just to lower left corner of photo 1) but all pieces are intact and could be repaired. Next, a program from Coblenz, from the same month, titled, " Souvenir Winner's List of Third Army Carnival at Coblenz, Germany on April 23-27, 1919". The program includes a synopsis of the events, such as The Horse Show, and Aviation. Most of the 36 pages have a photo plate for the event. The center is a 2-page view of the carnival grounds. This program has some discoloration and wear on the cover but is in good shape for its age, no pages torn or missing. The book, titled "The Nations At War, A Current History" was written by Wills John Abbot and Staff and published in 1916. This 366 page book contains descriptions of the European conflicts that preceded WWII. T are also several color plates read more
