We offer for sale four wonderful Ringling Bros Circus Dog Performers Photos . Three of the photos are 5 X 7 Inches; the one with the Poodle standing on hind feet is 4 3/8 X 6 ½ Inches. Mounted on heavy cardstock, original photos not copies! These photos were purchased from an Estate Sale in Vermont . They came with other circus photos. Written on the back of all of these is : "TAKEN BY B. P. RICHARDSON 1861-1924 CIRCUS - EILERTSEN" . Mrs. Eilertsen is the Granddaughter of Benjamin P. Richardson and she told us he was the Circus Photographer for Ringling Bros Circus in the 1880s and 1890s and he lived in Boston, Mass. One photo is taken outside with four dogs standing on blocks or pails (2 Poodles and 2 other breeds). Three are standing on hind feet and the other dog is sitting on his block; all are looking to the right. The other t wo photos show them training outside and in a tent with a man training them in both photos. In both photos Two Greyhounds are standing against either sides of a tall ladder; with a white poodle on the top of the ladder and another dog below. Two other dogs in back ground in both photos.
