These BLUE glass balls come with copper rings that enable a person to use them in different ways for different items.They are mostly used for the common weathervane rods for most full size weathervanes.In the case of a full size weathervane, on a 3/4'' rod the 2'' ball will sit on the bevelled UPPER portion of the 3/4'' rod.The 4'' ball usually goes below the directionals and is held by a retaining ring..IF YOU DONT WANT THE 2.5'' BALL TO SIT ON THE TOP ROD YOU CAN MUNIPULATE THE COPPER CAP TO GO OVER AND DOWN THE 3/4'' SHAFT TO WERE YOU WANT IT.However 95 percent of all full size weathervanes have the ball sitiing on the bevelled portion of the 3/4'' rod.These balls are not returnable,,only because they probably wont survive the return trip... you can ask any questions that you want,, and i will respond so that i can help you achieve what you are setting out to do.
