I BOUGHT THIS CONTAINER FULL OF GEM QUALITY FACET ROUGH APATITE DOWN AT THE TUCSON GEM SHOWS ABOUT 15 YEARS AGO. THE LOT CONSISTS OF A TOTAL OF 50 GRAMS (250 CARETS)! This is a nice group of blue green apatite. A lot of it is not gem quality but a fair amount of it is. I don't know its source. It varies in color from kind of a light green blue to a darker blue green. Some of these pieces will facet some pretty nice stones, the rest of them would make nice small cabs. To give you an idea as to the size of the pieces, I weighed the largest piece and it comes in at almost exactly 10 carets, it isn't really facet grade though. Also the dish that I took the pictures in is about 4" in diameter. I weighed up the group and it is 50 grams (250 carets) so I figure if only 10 percent was able to be faceted that would still be 25 carets of nice facet rough. I don't see this nice blue apatite around much anymore, so if you want these you better grab them now. I am sure that just cutting a couple of the nicer pieces will be worth more than the listing cost for the parcel. The pictures were taken under Fluorescent lighting with no enhancement whatsoever.
