Shapely vintage cocktail dress from the late 1950's. Medium to heavyweight silk fabric with a dull luster and a very fine horizontal weave. I'm guessing broadcloth, but not positive. Wide, sculptured V neckline front and deep V back. Kimono style bodice has short sleeves, underarm gussets and bust pleats. Wide silk taffeta pleated cummberbund style waistband. Full, gathered flouncy peplum attached at waist has black tulle netting beneath. Fitted pencil skirt has no back kick pleat, so is a true wiggle dress. Side metal zipper closure. Skirt has side hook and eye closures under the peplum. Fully lined in black taffeta. Excellent condition. No flaws noted that affect appearance or wearability. Measurements- Bust 38" (17 1/2" across back, 20 1/2" across front) Ribcage (just under bust) 32" Waist 26" Hips (7" down from waist) 38" Shoulder to waist 16" waist to hem 24 1/2".To ensure proper fit, please be sure your own bust, ribcage and hip measurements are a bit smaller to allow room for movement. Dress was shortened at one time. So there is a 2 1/2" hem that could be let down.
