50s SILVERTONE KAY 1425 2-P/UP ELECTRIC ARCHTOP GUITAR A beautiful vintage electric archtop guitar made by The Kay Guitar Co. for the Silvertone line of guitars Line #1425 sold by Sears Dept. stores circa 1950's. This guitar was from an original owner who had died young and I was fortunate to get it. It is now time for it to go to another loving home. This beautiful looking and playing guitar is complete with all factory Kay made parts including the two "speed bump" pickups, Rosewood bridge, nickle-plated tailpiece, all four Ivory "cupcake" tuning knobs and the rare "bat wing" ivory pickguard with the embossed "S" for "Silvertone". The single cutaway Spruce top and flame Maple back body is in excellent condition with no cracks, warps or repairs. Perfect lacquer finish with no peeling or crazing.No toe to heel separation as shown. All factory ivory plastic binding material is perfect and crack free. Maple neck is straight and warp-free with a Rosewood fingerboard and Pearloid fret markers. Perfect Kluson Deluxe tuners with no rust or corrosion. Plastic buttons are clean and crack free. All frets are in good playing condition and guitar shows great action!! Case is an early Gretsch and is in nice condition except for the outside Tweed covering which is missing and loose in areas.
