Dan McCook's Regiment > written by Rev. Nixon B. Stewart Sergt. Co. E 52nd O.V.I. Original Publishing by Author in 1900. Reprint by Acorn Press 1999. Great read filled with many illustrations of the well liked Colonel and Brigade commander of the 52nd Ohio Infantry during the Civil War. Daniel McCook was from the prolific known families in Ohio which were referred to the Fighting McCooks. Daniel McCook Sr. and John McCook along with 13 sons all were involved in the Civil War. Dan McCook Jr. a Union Colonel would be mortally wounded at the battle of Kennesaw while leading his brigade against the Confederate line on June 24th, 1864. He was wounded through the right lung and carried off the field where he would linger for 3 weeks before finally dying from his mortal wound. Hardback book in new condition, with 245 pages.
