DESCRIPTION: 60s mod Stemlite Mushroom Lamp by Design ® Line Inc. El Segundo, Calif. If you are not familiar with Stemlite, they were producing near identical lamps to Laurel Lamps at the same time, except the switch is a stem and not a knob type like Laurel; Laurel had more of a variety of bases. The shades were more or less identical in shape and size, both blown Murano glass, but the Stemlite has a larger opening by at least 1/2 inch. This is the classic Saarinen-type base in glossy powder coated white, and the glass shade is not satin finish; this is only the second non-satin shade I've seen (the other being the lighted one shown in the photo with Danish Modern teak base, a "marriage"). The lamp is shown with a little 5 W. bulb in the ceramic socket which is included. The condition is amazingly mint: the only paint loss is as shown in the photo of the lamp base sans shade. T is a bit of wear around the rim of the base which is barely noticeable, but basically the condition is so good it looks almost new. It must have been stored under ideal conditions. Shade has a couple air bubbles, normal for blown glass, and measures about 12" X 4.5" Lamp height with shade: 11.5" base 5" tall w the shade rests and base is almost 7" diameter. I replaced one of the felt pads on the base. SHIPPING: Domestic shipping (base and globe shipped separately) read more
