COLLECTIBLE SOLID SILVER ART PIECE & A GREAT STORE OF VALUE, BETTER THAN A BANKWeighs 66 Grams. Diameter 50 mm. Thickness 4mm.It depicts a female with laurel leaves and marked Gayrard F for French artist Raymond Gayrard. Underneath it says "Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité" (Liberty, Equality, Fraternity) the motto of France. The other side says "La Commune D'Issy (Seine) Reconnaissante" (The Commune of Issy (Seine) gives Thanks). Issy became Issy-les-Moulineaux in 1893. It is an area in the southwest suburbs of Paris. The middle says "A Mr L'Abbé Perdreau Curé 1870-1872" (To Mr L'Abbé Perdreau, Priest, 1870-1872)Absolutely the most gorgeous very old & very rare huge solid Argent / Silver French Artist Medal / Medallion with very high relief artist details. Words on both sides to decipher, and the word "ARGENT" on the edge. Absolutely incredible piece. Please refer to pics for condition.Stamped with a Bee of the Paris Mint from 1860-1879.Argent is French for silver. Argent silver in items of French manufacture has come in three levels or 'tiers' of argent, .950, .925 and .800.
