6th DUKE OF CONNAUGHT'S ROYAL CANADIAN HUSSARS WHITE METAL CAP BADGE DESCRIPTION Superb, white metal WW2 era, Canadian Army, 6th Duke of Connaught's Royal Canadian Hussars cap badge with two loop style lug fasteners for attachment . The Regiment traces it's history back to 1812, when the Montreal Cavalry were raised. As a result of their superb performance in the War of 1812, in about 1815, they became the Royal Montreal Cavalry and saw service in the Rebellion of 1837-38. In 1855, they were transferred to the Militia and became the 1st Volunteer Troop of Cavalry of Montreal. They took part in the 1866 action at Pidgeon Hill, during the Fenian Raids. They went through a number of title changes and in 1885, they were named the 6th Regiment of Cavalry. In 1890, they became the 6th Regiment of Cavalry Duke of Connaught's Royal Canadian Hussars and in 1892, they became the 6th D.C.R.C.H. During the Boer War, the Regiment sent Officer's and Men with the Canadian Contingent and they served with the 1st Canadian Mounted Rifles. As a result, the Regiment received the Battle Honour, "South Africa 1900". In 1910, they absorbed the 5th Dragoons without a title change. During WW1, the Regiment joined with the 17th Duke of York's Royal Canadian Hussars to form the 5th Mounted Rifles seeing service in France. The Regiment received 21 WW1 Battle read more
