Old Castles & Abbeys was a series of weekly publications by John Dicks in the late 1800s. It cost 1 penny & contained 8 pages. Each issue covered 2 different Castles or Abbeys (4 pages on each) with an engraving of each (usually about 7 x 5 inch landscape). The text is in 2 sections - The History & The Legend. Text usually runs to about 5000 words per Castle/Abbey. The two covered by this issue are detailed in the title line. 8.5 x 11 inch. This is the original publication in nice unfolded condition - having been loosely bound into a book at some time it is well preserved. Undated but generally believed to be late 1800s. It is over 100 years old & may contain some light foxing or aging discolouration mainly around the edges. See pic for better idea of condition of this issue which shows the first page, the fifth page has a similar sized engraving on the other Castle/Abbey. Despatch will be in a board-backed envelope. I am selling the whole magazine as it was originally supplied - however if the buyer wishes they could split it down the centre hinge and then have 2 separate 4 page articles.
