Quantity 1 Sake bottle & 2 Sake cups Size Sake bottle : Dia. max. 2.8"(7.0cm) x H 5.4"(13.8cm) Sake cup : Dia. max. 2.2"(5.5cm) x H 1.5"(3.7cm) Description of item This is a set of vintage Japanese Sake bottle & cups of Kutani Porcelain, on which Samurai feudal lord's procession is completely handpainted. These items were made by a famous potter, Kutani Gyokusui about 30 years ago. The signature of the pottery is put on the bottom of the Sake bottle & cups. Kutani ware is Japanese porcelain made in Kaga province (now in Ishikawa prefecture). The name “Old Kutani” refers to porcelain decorated with heavily applied overglaze enamels and produced in the Kaga mountain village of Kutani. The powerful Maeda family had established a kiln there by 1656. The clay bodies used were gray and coarse-grained. On most pieces—dishes and bowls were especially common—a white or blue-white matte glaze was decorated in dark, restrained colours, initially greens, yellows, and some reds, and later purples and dark blues.
