8 STERLING CUT GLASS COASTERS & STAND This elegant set of eight sterling silver and cut glass coasters in the French Empire style with pierced rim decorated with rosettes and acanthus leaves the whole resting in the original sterling silver handled stand. Manufactured by Birks and Sons, Ltd. which was started in 1879 in Montreal, Canada and later purchased the Canadian subsidiary of the Gorham Co. in 1907. Every piece is marked Birks Sterling .One coaster's glass is cracked, but this lovely set can still be used as a set of six with one extra, in case of breakage; the stand is a little bent out of shape, but displays nicely. The other seven coasters are in excellent condition. No dents, scratches, chips, cracks, dings or repairs.Approx. Height 5 1/2" Approx. Width 4" Approx.
