8 INCH HALITE STALACTITE - TRONA, CALIFORNIA This is a highly unusual find from the 2006 mineral and gem shows. This is a halite (salt) stalactite; a natural occurrence from the evaporate environment of California's Searles Lake w collecting is limited to only 5 hours per year. This specimen is in undamaged condition. Its tip is a little skeletal, but undamaged and the base was carefully broken off when collected. In the base you can see the core with its rings of growth. If you are a collector of unusual finds, don't miss this one. I don't think t are many around. These are fragile specimens so we will ship this specimen to you in a 10 inch long shipping box that will protect it during transit and also serve as a safe place for it in your collection.
