This richly reticulated Art Nouveau (New View) sterling silver serving piece c 1928-1937 stands alone on any table setting or appetizer area. Aside from its value as sterling it is a "Sheffield Reproduction" (pictured). It isn't reproduced by a novice silversmith it is Sheffield's way of recreating their original designs and patterns without denigrating the original artist's work. For namesake then Sheffield, on occasion, will reproduce an original design and put it back into circulation. The English table is never without the ever popular English biscuit, and elegant serving trays like this one are stll popular today. The real merit of this piece is its art nouveau styling and natural lines and reticulation that so often dominates the period. The reticulated portion of this serving tray is almost a Deco pattern with three rings of curved leaves that are held up with a natural stem curled around to form a serving handle (pictured). The center pattern is inscribed with a "D" monogram. This monogram can be removed at your local jeweler's with an instrument that removes them. It can also be re-monogrammed with the initial's of your choice. This item measures 8 1/2" and stands 1/2" from the table.
