These postcards are from a collection built over many years. I am not a professional collector, so I cannot grade them, but I describe them to the best of my ability. If they are mailed, I include that detail. Many of them have light pencil markings on the back, typically in the stamp area, indicating the collector's initials. If a date can be determined, I'll tell you. Otherwise consider it unknown.I am happy to combine orders. I ask that you pay within 3 days of the auction's closing. I can always upgrade to Priority Mail flat rate in an envelope or box if you wish.Almost alll cards have light corner wear and foxing at the very least, and I'll mention it if there is more wear or discoloration. Please presume that all of these cards wil have been stored, sometimes for decades, sometimes for a century, and abrasion wear and foxing may be present. This lot has cards of all ages, from fairly new to quite old, and there are some multiples of the same scene. Only 48 are pictured, but I will describe the remaining 25 and the album. White House Blue Room, foxing, several spots onthe back, a couple of creases. There's another copy of this one, no creases. --- very pretty aerial view of the Capitol, creases in two places, mailed 1974, typical wear for a mailed card, edge and corner wear; --- Supreme Court Building, corners bumped lightly; Tomb of the Unknowns, light crease and foxing along the edges; --- Lincoln Memorial showing the statues gifted from Italy, mailed 1966, typical condition for a mailed card, foxed, cancellation ink on face; --- Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, mailed 1972, corners and edges bumped, typical mailed condition. Second copy of this card, not mailed --- Washington Hilton Hotel, mailed, can't read date, Eisenhower 8 cent stamp on it, corner and edge wear, foxing, typical mailed condition. --- White House, written on but not mailed postally, soiling on the back, corners bumped, edge wear. ---Joint Session of Congress, corner wear; Jefferson Memorial, mailed 1960-something, Washington 5 cent stamp, corner and edge wear, typical mailed condition, cancellation ink got on the front. --- Capitol Plaza and floodlit Dome, foxed, corner wear; --- Washington D.C. aerial, mailed 1972, mailed condition. --- older linen-front card, Capitol Plaza, Senate Office Building, Union Station, Post Office, foxing but otherwise nice; --- US Supreme Court; Lincoln Memorial and Arlington Memorial Bridge, linen-front, foxing and light soiling on front, on back there is a small corner stain in the stamp area, looks like a printing artifact; ---- Senate Chamber, older card, light abrasion wear on the back, corners rounding with wear; Union Station, older card, light soiling front and back, noticeable corner wear, light foxing; US Treasury and Sherman Statue, corners rounded with wear, light soiling front and back, two light creases upper right corner, older card; Supreme Court Building, older card, linen-front, crease righthand upper corner, soiling front and back light; entrance hall to White House, older linen-front card, corner wear, light soiling on the front; White House, linen-front, one little smudge on the back, bonus item with this card is the ticket stub from a tour of the Capitol, number H-17149, no idea of age, but I think it's fairly old as well. ---- the mall, linen-front, foxing, corner wear. --- Pentagon, someone marked their workplace on the front with an ink circle, but the most interesting thing about this card is that it was mailed AT the Pentagon (they have their own post office) and it has a Pentagon cancellation, mailed 1968, typical mailed condition; --- Library of Congress, creased horizontally, foxed, corner wear, spot on the back; --- multi-view White House; --- China Room, White House, fingerprint-like smudge on the back, abrasion wear on the back; --- State Dining Room, foxed, corner wear; --- Indiana State Room, Memorial Continental Hall, corner wear, crease lower left; --- East Garden Court at the National Gallery of Art; --- Lincoln statue and the Lincoln Museum; --- Capitol Rotunda --- Blue... read more
