This rare Christmas Card is from the H.Q. of the 8th Armoured Brigade in Hanover. On the front is a picture of the Rathaus or Town Hall in Hanover. Inside it reads 'Just in case. Sigm Spiers F.297 Royal Signals 8th Arm Bde B.A.O.R.' These initials stand for British Army of the Rhine. After the Christmas Greeting it reads 'From Micky. In grateful remembrance for many happy days spent in Derby.' On the back is a picture of the British Royal Coat of Arms above the gate of the Labour Exchange in Hanover. The 8th Armoured Brigade moved their H.Q. to Hanover in May 1945 and this card is almost certainly from Christmas 1945. It is on thin card which is very slightly frayed at the edges and measures approximately 7" (18cm) x 5" (13cm).
