This ring is small, measured as best we could at a size 3 (may be slightly bigger or smaller, as band is not perfectly round and thus hard to measure). Sitting approx 3.6mm above the finger top, in a bezel setting, is a Mexican coin replica depicting previous Emperor of Mexico Maximilian & his wife Carlota (Charlotte). On the front of the coin it reads: MAXIMILIANO Y CARLOTA EMPERADOR, and on the reverse is a coat-of-arms with an eagle and two lions, the words IMPERIO MEXICANO and the dates 1866 - 1867. The band is 375 (9kt) solid yellow gold, as for the coin, we understand these tributes were produced in 22 karat, 18 karat, and 8 karat. We took it to a coin dealer and he believes it is 18kt, although, we were fearful of damaging this piece by testing and so we cannot guarantee the true gold content of this coin. Ring is in good condition, and the detail on the coin is very clear. Band tapers from approx. 13mm (top of finger) to 3.5mm (bottom of finger), weighs a total of 4.3 grams, and coin measures approx. 10mm. Although we would not consider this piece scrap, at the current gold prices, that might be an option since the gold value alone on this piece could be approximatly $140. Insurance with delivery confirmation is required, and is included in the shipping charges. Should you need expedited shipping, we will be happy to accommodate read more
