André Mourlon (1903-70). He and his brother René were the French flag-bearers of athletics between the two world wars, holding records in the 100 & 200 meters. This card is part of an important series of Cabrol caricatures of prominent sports figures of first part of the 19th century. Raoul CABROL was a master of distorted satirical design, with astonishing technique. His works appeared in numerous illustrated publications, including "Ruy Blas," "Le Rire," "Le Cri de Paris," "La Vie Ouvrière," and "Regards." Divided back imprinted "CARTE POSTALE" and "Publications J.P., 3 rue Rossini, Paris." Unused, excellent condition, with just the slightest of corner wear and age toning around the edges, hardly worth mentioning. Carte postale editée par J.P., 3 rue Rossini, Paris, c1920s.
