you have a matched pair of AAF or GI 1st Lieutenant Silver Bars that are British made in about near mint condition. The bars feature the triangle pin back mount on the reverse that is indicative of a theatre-made set of bars (England as well as Australia). The bars represent a matched pair. Each bar measures approximately a bit larger than 1 x .375 inches and has beveled edges. Each has a pin back device and cradle on the reverse. The bars have a brilliant, mirrored finish with normal, light wear. (It is difficult to photograph bright insignia without getting reflections in the picture due to the mirrored finish and curvature of the bars.) The bars are curved for wear on a tunic or jacket. The insignia is appropriate for either the Air Corps or Army. English and Australian made US Insignia represent a highly coveted genre of collecting. Matched pairs of insignia are tough to find as officers lost insignia, swapped them, and sent bars home to family and sweet hearts.
