This is a fabulous and very, very hard to find Nippon Pancake Server. This stunning beauty is hand painted with what I think are Poppies - a bit stylized to be sure. Poppies have a huge variety of colors and pinks are among them. The Server is painted with pink & magenta flowers all around the domed lid and all around the border of the heavy scalloped underdish in the form of buds. This is a very captivating piece with the use of green, magenta and aqua as background colors and the gold accenting done. It is a fabulous piece of porcelain. The Server stands about 4 5/8" tall and 9 1/2" across the widest width of the underplate. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or hairlines. This was very well taken care of. The colors are extremely vibrant and rich. Unmarked, as so very many pieces of Nippon era porcelain are - this mold can be referenced in Joan Van Patten's Encyclopedia of Nippon Porcelain Book # 3, Page 108, Plate 1261. 1891-1921.
