Mom was going through a box of "minis" and found 3 of her acrylic miniature paintings! (Mom is Jean Welch of The China Closet). For a short while, along with painting miniature china , she painted just a few of these beautiful paintings. She enjoyed copying " The Masters" and never copied the same one twice. This painting is her hand painted study of " Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose" by John Singer Sargent. The painting is signed and dated on the back by Jean Welch - 1995. The frame was made by Roger Gutheil - his impression is on the backing along with "Frame By" which he wrote in pencil. He was kind enough to make frames for Jean. The size of this framed painting is 4 1/2" wide by 3 1/2" high. The total depth from the outer edge of the frame to the back is 5/16". I have taken several pictures as I feel that Mr. Gutheil's craftsmanship is a work of art unto itself and wanted to show all of the beauty of the painting and the frame.
