A dams Calyx Ware Metz Covered Vegetable BowlThis beautiful covered vegetable bowl is from Adams Calyx Ware in the Metz pattern.This pattern features a light blue/green, or teal, background and is adorned with pale pink flowers with green leaves that are outlined in pink. Pink laurel leaves encircle the rims. There is a thin golden colored border on the rim.The center of the lid is painted like a flower petal.The bottom of the bowl is stamped in pink with the following: ESTB. 1657 ADAMS ENGLAND. There is a black hand painted F to the side of that. The inside of the lid has a hand painted 22.Measurements:height without lid 2 7/8”; with lid 6 1/8”; top diameter 8 1/4”; base 5 1/4” M easurements are approximate, but within 1/8 of an inch.Condition: Very nice condition – Overall, both the bowl and the lid are in very nice condition. There are a couple of issues that should be pointed out. The bowl has a small chip at the base that measures 1/4” x 1/8”. (see the 10 th photo.) Both the lid and the bowl have some missing paint on the golden border of the rims. They may look like chips in the photos, but they are not. They are much more noticeable in the pictures than when in hand. As is usual with pieces from this era, there are some glaze pops on the bottom. None of these slight flaws take away from the beauty or function of this bowl. read more
