"Kente" stole/scarf/sash Entirely handwoven by African (Ghanaian) weavers "Kente" in the local language means woven cloth Intricate design, bold colours Best known of all Ghanaian and perhaps all African textiles First developed in the 12th century, Kente is handwoven and native to the country of Ghana, in West Africa Kente cloth is of the Asante (or Ashanti) tribe who consider it royal , even sacred, worn only in times of great importance. Kente was the cloth of kings. Although t he use of kente became more widespread over the years it is still highly regarded and valued by all in Ghana and beyond. Approx dimensions 162cm by 13cm Weight approx 100g Strips like this would normally be stitched together to make a large piece which can then be worn as traditional cloth by both men and women. This is a genuine woven strip, not the cheaper cotton prints. Suitable as collectors item, s carf, stole, sash. Will enhance a plain coloured lady's dress in the right colour
