AFRICAN KENTE HAND WOVEN CLOTH ASHANTI ASANTE GHANA This is authentic old African very good quality hand woven MAN SIZE ASHANTI KENTE from Ghana.The cloth dates from the 1960s and most of the cloth is double woven.This is a " Man size " cloth and measures 128" x 80 " ( 325 cm x 203 cm ) . The cloth is in very good condition with a couple of very small tiny holes, minor stains and wear due to age and usage. Check out the other kente and other African textiles in my Store!! Kente is an ASHANTI ( ASANTE ) ( Ghana , Kumasi , West Africa ) Ceremonial cloth that is hand woven on a horizontal treadle loom. In the present days is still used as a cloth in Ghana but is also used by collectors of fine weaved cloths and African artifacts as Wall hanging or sofa covering !!!!!! PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS CLOTH IS NOT SUITABLE AS FLOOR RUG FOR WALKING ON. THIS IS A CLOTH THAT WAS WEAVED FOR WEARING !!!! It takes several weeks for a weaver to complete a full size cloth like this !!! The stripes are sewn together into larger pieces of cloths. Kente is more than just a cloth but is a visual representation of history, ethics , oral literature , philosophy , moral values and religious beliefs.
