African Samburu Spear-Long Blade 70" Weapon Album Album Featured in this auction is a wonderful spear from the Samburu tribe in Kenya. The Samburu are close in culture to the Maasai, and some authorities say that they were originally the same. This spear has a nice balance, but it is not a throwing spear. It was used most often by sticking the long metal end into the ground and letting the animal impale itself while in the midst of a charge or leap. The spear comes apart into 3 pieces: the long, top spear point (32-33 inches long), the wooden shaft and the long metal end (29 inches). Altogether it measures approx. 70-72 inches & is heavy.
