ORIGINAL STRIP ART BY ROY FOX AS HE SENT IT TO THE SYNDICATE FOR PUBLICATION DATED 05-13-68 The strip was originally titled Aggie Mack. Created by Hal Rasmussen, it first appeared in 1946. Teenage strips had been popular since the early twenties, but Aggie, with it's central character a female, started out a little different. She had a few more creative threads in her make up. The earliest days found Aggie living at home with her parents. Her Father was on his second wife and Aggie's Step-mother showed her own daughter, Mona, a bit more of attention. This set up allowed some quiet friction to enter the strip (as opposed to straight gags every day). This drama began to recede as the strip went more in favor of teenage adventures and jokes, ala Archie. Still, the conflict was in the background. The strip did have a great cast of supporting characters. Rasmussen passed away in 1962 and Roy L. Fox took over the strip. They shortened the title to just Aggie in 1966. The strip lasted until the end of 1971. The strip offered today features a joke about couples and break ups. The strip is a wonderful memory from a time gone.
