Species: Perenopsis brighamensis & Haplophrentis reesei Age: Middle CambrianFormation: Spence ShaleLocation: UtahPhenomenal association piece from the Middle Cambrian of Utah. This is a very uncommon agnostid trilobite from the Spence Shale. The trilobite is actually preserved inside the Hyolithid making for a very provocative association. It is a matter of conjecture whether the agnostid was using the hylolithid test as protection, but this specimen certainly suggests that. The LARGE Hyolithid measures 4.8cm long! The matrix measures 7 x 8cm.
