AH6049 - Roman cavalry face helmet from 100 A.D.) for reenactors I am selling a "Roman" cavalry face helmet for reenactors in original size. Helmets with a face mask hinged at the middle of the forehead and two cheek pieces were used in Roman legions from about 100 A.D. till 400 A.D.The original from which our helmet was copied appears to be of German or Gallic origin. The helmet is handmade from 18 gauge steel, trimmed in brass and weighs 2.9 kgs.(approx. 6.5 lbs.). It has a cotton liner (see last photo) and can be used by people with a hat size of up to 59 cms.(7.1/4" British or 7.3/8" US) and can also be worn by anyone with a smaller hat size, when some extra padding will have to be added. The face mask is cast in bronze. See chart below for shipping charges to other countries than UK.
