This auction is for above INCREDIBLY RARE series book title: Originally published as the LAST series book published by Altemus Publishers before they went out of business, this title was picked up by M. A. DONAHUE & COMPANY Publishers for ONE PRINTING ONLY!!!..it is not to be found in the Mattson reference book...NOT ONLY THAT BUT the book is a variant (one of a kind???) with the book cover stating, 'The Airplane Boys (NOT 'Aircraft) & the Phantom AIRCRAFT' NOT 'Airplane' as stated on the DJ..NEXT, 1st title page is back to the DJ title of 'Airplane' THEN the formal title page opposite the frontispiece has 'THE AIRPLANE BOYS & THE PHANTOM AIRCRAFT' same as the book but different than the DJ...THAT'S FOUR DIFFERENT TITLE CHANGES WITHIN THE SAME BOOK & DJ!!!!!!! i've photoed all 4 titles in scans.......SEE SCANS!!!!!!!! I talked to ED MATTSON himself on this and he was going to bring it up as an interesting variant/listing at the next bookbinder meeting .....TRULY UNIQUE!!!!!!!!.....book is in EXCELLENT condition & DJ has wear & has pieces out but one can't be fussy with a rare variant, a possible one-of-a-kind!!!!..NOTE: ALL this week's series book listings of ours this week are from a private collection and feature some of the rarest titles...please note our other listings
