Hello... I purchased this superb 3-head AIWA F990 cassette deck new in 1983. It was overkill for my application-I pretty much relegated cassettes to portable usage. I used it chiefly for replicating my LP collection.As a consequence, it's had a pretty gentle existence. The machine started to misbehave about a dozenyears ago, and finally the transport stopped altogether two years later. It's been unused since then. Alook inside revealed a bit of dust, which I gently blew out, and that the belts have gone the way of allbelts in old tape decks..completely broken down. I suspect that the belts are the only thing wrong withthe deck, in every other sense it seems fine. But I cannot determine that for certain, and my interest intape-based recording has waned, my loss is your gain. The good news is that this deck is in super shape. The cabinet is nearly perfect-there are scuffs on thebottom edge of the platform for the control panel (see pics), the faceplate is also very nice with onlyfine scratches in places from normal cleaning. All the lamps are working and the fluourescent meters areas bright as new. And as can also be determined from the pictures, this is a universal-voltage model-adjustment is right on the back.
